Fun Farmer's Market!

If you were driving down Highway 18 and saw this smiling guy dancing with a giant sunflower on the side of the road at a Saturday Farmer's Market, what would you do?
Since I am a fan of smiling and dancing, I pulled over. It was an extra bonus that I also saw a "sweet corn for sale" sign, even though it wasn't at sunflower dancer Brenden Whitelaw's booth. Among other yummy looking plants, he offered exotic cucumbers, fancy zucchini, and Scottish kale, which I wish I'd tasted while I was there.
Coming up, not this weekend because of the St. George Ironman competition, which tends to close roads, are lemongrass, dill, kohlrabi, White Spice Carrots (what?!) and, of all things, Cosmic Purple Carrots!
Brenden also sells colorful corn, perfect for fall decorations or eating, and he promised larger ears to come!
So if you're in the market for entertainment, good conversation, and fresh vegetables that you aren't likely to find at a grocery store, then stop by the junction of Highway 18 and the turnoff to Pine Valley, (which is roughly the center of the town of Central, Utah) on Saturday.
For even more fun, there are other booths there, too, such as easy-to-talk-to Dale in his genuine cowboy hat, offering his homemade flutes and unique one-of-a-kind Western decorations for sale.
You're sure to find something fun and interesting there, so stop by if you can!
Have you ever been to a Farmer's Market?

Food With A Face

Bob doesn't like mustard.
(I don't understand it.)
Not only is mustard tasty, but it's such a cheerful condiment. I mean, if you were to dress up your burger with ketchup, it wouldn't have the same sunny quality, now would it?
So what's your vote? Mustard? Ketchup? Mayo? Or some other condiment that makes your tongue do the happy dance?

Yet Another Patriotic Car!

I am delightfully amazed at all the different ways people show their patriotism. I spotted this sparkly car at the post office a week or two ago.
I was a little concerned about taking the front view picture because there was a person in the driver's seat, but I tucked myself into the shadowy building and zoomed in and, voila! A bright sunspot obscured the person's face, so I didn't need to get a signed release to post the picture!

  It made me smile!
What makes you smile?

I noticed this rock outside the Dixie Convention Center while walking with my sister, but there was something out of the ordinary. An odd lump at the top of the rock caught my attention, so I bent down for a closer look.
I couldn't help but smile at what I saw.

(Did you smile, too?)
Do you look down when you walk? Do you look up? How about overhead?
Where have you found the nicest surprises?

What A Nice Date!

Wow,  how nice to go on a date with Bob to Marv's Drive-In in Enterprise, Utah.  (It's closer to our new place than St. George.)
They were happy to see us, too. (See the smiley faces on the little tubs of sour cream sitting on top of the taco salad? They are upside down, so my may have to stand on your head to recognize them, unless you have a good imagination!)
HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!
Feel the love!

A good day for smiling

Here's my sassy sister Rebecca with a cool fashion tip for you: when you wear glamorous scarf like she does (she pulls it off so well, don't you think?) then PIN the scarf to your shirt so it doesn't flop around like an octopus tentacle when you're trying to get some work done. Look how classy! (Rebecca is a classy lady.)
It's fun to smile when your sister Loraine (in the green) makes you laugh. Of course she would do it on a day when I (in red) was without my waterproof mascara on! (Now that's funny!)
But the best reason of all to smile today is because it's my son Zack's birthday. I don't care how big he gets, he'll always be my boy.
What is it that makes you smile today? If you haven't smiled yet, go out and do a smiley thing, then come back and tell us what you did. Happy people want to know, and sad people need to know!

Smile for Real!

"Life, the Universe and Everything" (LTUE) this past weekend at UVU delivered a writing jolt to my system that will never wear off! It was worth packing, driving, finding a parking space, staying up late and getting up early. Now watch me write! (You may want to go next year if you're a writer.)
While you're contemplating your writing conference attendance, contemplate fake smiles people give. They're smiling, aren't they, or is that a grimace?
When you smile, make sure it reaches your eyes. You can even smile with your mouth perfectly straight, as long as it reaches your eyes.
Have a HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!
Do you smile with your eyes?
