Planting People

'Tis the season to plant gardens!
Bob and Carolyn are the gardeners in this household. Bob built raised planter beds last fall, which makes it so much easier to reach the dirt and put in the seeds and weed the plants and pick the produce.
They'll grow them...I'll eat them!
Do you like to eat vegetables?
Do you like gardening?

HAPPY NEW GIFT!

I got a terrific Christmas gift when Bob put new counters in our cottage. I didn't get pix of the old ones, made of boards that were separating, but you can see one of the old counter joints that had pulled apart beneath the new counter top.
This was the case in more than one place, so liquid leaked through to at least one drawer below.
My ever-lovin' fix-it husband watched many Youtube videos, (he calls it "Youtube University") got the necessary supplies, and made the countertops for us with his own two gloved hands!
I got a new sink, too, inspired by my son's new one! This is where it will go:
Can you see the beautiful hammered copper finish that Bob made with his trowel-y tools and paintbrush? Can you also see the wonderful silky smooth surface? (Our old one was rather lumpy.)
Bob even added sparkles for me!
(Yes, this is the same countertop, only with different lighting so it looks like another color, but they're really the same.)
I wouldn't have thought of getting a sink with a large side and a little side, but it's terrific for washing big things like pans.
This project reminded me to be thankful for running water, and a place to wash dishes besides the tiny bathroom sink or bending over the bathtub.
How about you? Do you like to fix things yourself? Or do you like someone else to do it?

What A Nice Date!

Wow,  how nice to go on a date with Bob to Marv's Drive-In in Enterprise, Utah.  (It's closer to our new place than St. George.)
They were happy to see us, too. (See the smiley faces on the little tubs of sour cream sitting on top of the taco salad? They are upside down, so my may have to stand on your head to recognize them, unless you have a good imagination!)
HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!
Feel the love!

What I did last week

This is me by the Colorado River. (You're too close to the camera... take a step back... just a little further... another step.... almost there... step back one more time!)

Bob is obviously outstanding in his field.

Michael wants to know if there's any food left in the ancient granary! (The depression in the rock above and to the right of his head.)

Now I'm wondering how a family of 10 pioneers lived in this little cabin!
Coming back from a book selling trip to Blanding, Utah was fun with Michael at the wheel. He made spontaneous stops at sites that looked interesting. The only time we skipped a site was when someone in the truck had to go to the bathroom and we were a couple of miles from the visitor's center. (Plan ahead, people!)
When you travel, do you make spontaneous stops, or are you a keep-to-the-schedule type of person?
