Mother and Son

Robert (as his mother always calls him, while everyday people tend to call him "Bob") is showing his mom some videos on his phone.
This picture resonates with me because:
1. I am also a mother of sons (Six Best Boys Ever!)
~ and ~
2. These are two of my favorite people. (Mother-in-law jokes do not apply.) Ann is a wonderful lady who loves me, and I love her.
I posted it because even though Robert doesn't particularly like me to broadcast his birthday, (I won't give the exact date, but Facebook might) he and his mom both have birthdays this lovely month of May. I also don't know if Ann minds if I mention how old she'll be...so I won't! It's an impressive age, though, and she still lives in her own home.
Happy, Happy Birthday, to mother and son!
Do you share your birthday month with someone you know?

St. George Marathon Madness

Carolyn and me at the beginning of the
(Yes, it's early. Around 6:00 in the morning!)
If you've never been at the starting line of the St. George Marathon, which happens to be on the highway that runs through Central, Utah (the TOWN Central, population approximately 800, not the generalized middle-of-the-state location) then you may not realize the scope of the event. There are SO MANY people there, (3,999 runners finished the race) with bonfires, music, snacks, and lights.
Before the race kicked off with wheelchair contestants, Carolyn made people smile with her dance moves.
(Carolyn's in the purple coat with her hood up, not dancing, because the music stopped for the National Anthem, and didn't start up again.)
She had lots of fun offering high five's to runners!
(Bob apparently had lots of fun watching from the background.)
Carolyn even got a high five from Dave Parrish, who was mayor of Ephraim, Utah when we lived there!
Bob and I counted portapotties, not only at the start of the race, but also along the highway. There were 219 at the gathering place, and 120 spread along the 28 mile route, equaling 339!
That's probably more than all the houses in Central.
Do you like going to events or celebrations in person?
Or would you rather watch them on TV or the computer?

Tall Bahlmenn and Big Fish!

I know my boys are tall, but sheesh, Andy, you're gonna take your head off if you run through any doorways in that get-up for playing the giant in BIG FISH at the Snow College theater!
(I know, who's "playing," right?)

I was warned to take tissues, so I did. Afterward, I asked Bob if I should have handed him a tissue. He just looked at me with a half grin. Michael said he would have cried if he was a social cryer. Andy did his crying on stage.
We really liked the play. It was worth our time.
Do you like plays that make you cry? Or do you prefer to laugh? (This one offered both!) Do you like slapstick? Musicals? (This was also one of those.) Or drama? (Yeah, that too.)
What kind of play would you like to see?

Happy Birthday All Life Long!

Just because you get older doesn't mean you get to skip your birthdays.
Maybe I shouldn't tell you how old my husband, Bob, turned on his birthday this month. (He's far left in top photo, cutting pie... no birthday cake for this hombre! He's a peach pie man, no candles, please, they tend to melt in all that gooey goodness filling.)
One thing I WILL tell you is that his knee is younger than the rest of himself! It's less than three weeks old. (Maybe that's why he babies it!)
Along with us are our sons "Bobaloo" (bottom picture, right, looking at me with an expression that could be interpreted as, "What are you doing?" Or maybe it's more of a "Dad, please hurry up with the pie...") We also have l-r, "Polo," "Mo", "Mom", and "C.L.B." (Bob's scooping ice cream in the bottom photo.)
On the top picture, we have l-r: "Bobaloo," "Grammy Junior," (the back of "Mom") the back of "Abe," and "A-Rob" (with a beard.)
Do you like your birthday? Do you like cake? What would be your favorite birthday celebration food?

Bob Bahlmann Family Adventure at the Salt Lake City Outdoor Expo

Bob and Shirley Bahlmann

Brian and Michael Bahlmann
set up for the Salt Lake City Outdoor Expo last weekend.

From March 13-16 we shared information on the joy of going outdoors. We also let attendees touch the predator hides we brought from the Division of Wildlife Resources (DWR). Attendees also saw how tall various predators could be by reading their names (badger, raccoon, wolf, cougar, etc.) written on duct tape and applied at appropriate heights to a pole beside our booth. (Good idea, Brian!) The grizzly skull in front of Bob in the photo above came from a bear that could have stood 10 feet tall.

Shirley incognito... can you find her in the lineup of mannequins on the right? (Those mannequins gave us a start more than once, since they seemed to stare at us from across the aisle throughout the expo, even though they had no heads!)

Thank you
