Birthday Dinner Delight!

Why do I feel so sorry for people who are just trying to do their job but are being ignored?
Like the taste tester guy with NO ONE gathering around his table for free samples of some kind of bizarre seafood at Costco. Was it shark? Octopus? Giant Squid? I don't recall exactly what it was, but it made people walk a wide berth around his table. I must admit, it didn't look very appetizing. If he'd had customers, I probably would have walked past, but I didn't want him to feel useless, and I'm up for an adventure if it's not likely to kill me, so I ate a piece.
(WARNING! Train wreck photo coming! Do not continue if you faint at the sight of food "train wrecks.")
It was chewy.
It was actually tasty. (Sorry for the train wreck, but how else am I going to prove that I actually ATE it?)
It actually tasted better than the turkey sample! As my aunt once said, "You taste with your mouth, not with your eyes."
Good advice, right?
Do you like to try new kinds of food?

Do you like waffles?
With cheese?
Then melt the cheese and add peanut butter...

and syrup!
The chef is ready to try it...
and...
she likes it!
What's your best food concoction?

Traveling Girl!

I decided about 10 years ago that when my youngest child was on his own, I'd go traveling. So when my sister invited me to go to New York, Virginia, and Washington DC with her, I was leaving on jet plane!
Yowza! The Washington Monument is taller than me!

This canal was built for more efficient travel by ship, but then the railroad came along and "railroaded" it off the map! (Haha.)

This is Potomac River scenery, on our way to an even BIGGER waterfall that can be viewed from either the Virginia OR Maryland side! (A versatile vacation site for sure.)
(My "fanny" pack, worn in front for security, and I'm not a fan of the bustle look, even accommodated a convenient water bottle.)

I am meant to travel, because I was even welcomed by name.

Star Trek, anyone? This magical tunnel went from one Smithsonian Museum to another. (There are 14 of those things! We managed to run through 4 of them before our day ran out.)

The Natural History Smithsonian displays the mummy of a sacred bull. (You've got to remember, those people didn't have TV's or electronic games. They had to have something to do for entertainment. I can just imagine a couple of Egyptians saying, "Bet you can't mummify a bull, Agathocles." "What you talkin' about, Lysimachus! Bet I can!"
And the challenge was on.)

We were even there in time for the famous cherry blossom blossoming in D.C! (Although this is a magnolia tree that I mistakenly thought was a cherry tree. They're the same color, okay? You wouldn't have known if I hadn't told you!)

I had to ask an attendant what was up with KISS AND RIDE Buses! It was a system set up so working spouses could be conveniently dropped off at their bus station by their stay-at-home spouse, who could give them a kiss before they caught their ride! (Seriously! That's what I was told!)

William Penn statue in Philadelphia, where? PENNsylvania!

Taking a bus from New York City. Goodbye tall building canyons and cobble streets and intriguing old architecture!
The bust station is in the SAME BUILDING as the Cake Boss TV program location! (But did we get a free taste? Even a cupcake?! No, we did not. I tell ya, they're missing a real promotional opportunity there.)
Some of the subways were old and dingy like you might see in a 1950's film noir, but some subway stations had beautiful or amusing murals in them!

There's a monument behind me, underneath the hair lifting up beside my right eye! Whose is it? Jefferson's! Due to time constraints, that's as close as we got to it. (I still got to breathe the air that circulated through it, though.)
As I prepared to head to my sister in Dallas 3 days after returning home, she asked me if I wished I could rest before getting back on an airplane.
Oh, no! I was ready to go! I'm a got my motor running, heading down the highway, looking for adventure kind of girl!
How about you? Do you like your expansive armchair? Or a squishy airplane seat?

Look and Find Car

This car looked like one of those picture books where the reader is challenged to find small objects amidst a jumble of items.
Can you see a giraffe in the photo below?
 Ahhh! Swamp Man alert!
Where are the dolphins breaking through the wood surf?
Can you see the sunny yellow butterfly?
 Where's the horse's patootie?
There's a zebra in there somewhere!
Yes, there's an ostrich there (from behind...it might look like a dinosaur!)
Do you see the octopus-eating alligator?
 A train wreck!
 Rhino climbing alert!
Apparently pink flamingos don't only stand one-legged on lawns, but on car roofs, too.
 Mad black cat!
 What else can you find?
I don't think the owners have much trouble finding their car in a parking lot.
I wonder how they fastened everything on to not blow away?
