Old Cannons

There are some nifty old cannons in Haddon Heights, New Jersey where Carolyn was born and I spent 10 of my growing up years.
As a child, I'd walk a long way to the cannons (maybe a mile) with a brother or sister or two or three. (There were eight of us.)
I used to climb on the cannons, but when I was there last year as an adult, I had a new perspective when I found I could could reach the end of the cannon from the ground.
My more petite sister stood further back to reach the cannon barrel, still proud of herself.
Things can be accomplished in so many different ways.
Do you have a favorite childhood place?
Where is it?

Carolyn Gets Back To Where She Started From!

Carolyn was thrilled to return to New Jersey, where she was born. The look on her face when she caught sight of the Atlantic Ocean by Sea Isle City, New Jersey, was priceless!
She could hardly wait to get in the water.
She said she wanted to buy a house and live there.
She simply loved the ocean, which was pleasantly warm.
We were so in tune with the ocean scene that we even matched the beach umbrellas!
Carolyn found some beautiful pebbles and shells to keep, and was in awe when she spied a seagull.
We three sisters (Rebecca McGarry, Shirley Bahlmann, and Carolyn Anderson) all loved getting our feet wet, but there was nothing to eat there...well, nothing that we wanted to eat.
So we went to Mike's Fish Market.
Hey, we were there on free mussel Monday...how could we say no to THAT?
Carolyn looks like she wasn't thrilled about the free mussels...she only ate one. (Maybe that's why.)
Carolyn enjoyed her chicken. (Yes, it counts as sea food. You must have heard of "chicken of the sea!")
We had the BEST table in the whole place, with water on two sides of our table. We were practically floating!
Even the bathrooms were amusing...if you didn't pay attention to the hurricane warning.
Carolyn also enjoyed a big, soft pretzel.
She was also certain that because she was born in New Jersey, everyone there knew who she was, no introduction necessary!
(She made lots of new friends.)
Have you been to New Jersey?
Have you been to the ocean?
(Do you WANT to go to either place?)

Old...uh... I mean long-time Friends!

On our recent trip to New York/New Jersey, my sister Rebecca and I saw some old...no, long-time friends! (We don't feel old.) One of them tallied up 49 years that have gone by since we last saw each other.
Smiling post-dessert are Linda, Kim, me, Heather (Teresa's daughter) Teresa, Rebecca, and Linda, (from Rebecca's class who lived around the corner from us._
Now for the girls my age:
Linda nominated me for 6th grade class president, Teresa was at our house so much she might as well be another sister, me, and Kim, who our Kindergarten teacher thought was an incoming boy student, so Kim got a boy face sticker on her name tag!)
What's your best memory with your long-time friends?

Then and Now! (Can you tell who is who?)

Back then!
This picture was taken around 1968 in Haddon Heights, New Jersey. (Weren't we stylin', though?)

This fine photo was snapped in 2016 in Logan, Utah.
We're still stylin'!
(Don't we age well?)
Can you tell who is who?
(Or is that "who is whom?")
I can hear you saying I should know... but I don't! ;o)
