Wretched Rugs

I wanted just the right rug to go with the color scheme in my office.
I wasn't only looking for color compatibility, but also softness. (Could I tolerate a neutral color if it was soft enough?)
What about a compromise of interesting pattern and intense neutral color and acceptable softness?
(Hey, choosing a rug is serious business!)
Do you want to know which one I chose?
None.
I didn't want the upkeep, the wear, or the dragging my desk chair across an uncooperative surface.
I sit in my CHAIR in my office, or on my COUCH, not on the floor!
(But I if I want to, I have lovely, fluffy BIG pillooowwwwsss!)
Do you like carpets?
Or smooth floors?

Hall Passes Required

When I visited my son's church, I was surprised when Bob pointed out the following message at the bottom of the program:
When we saw our 11-year-old granddaughter in the hall during class time, we asked her where her pass was.
She looked thoroughly confused.
So we showed her the notice.
She said, "I've never heard of that before."
So what's behind the message on the program? Do the church leaders have a sense of humor?
Or is it the person who types the programs, rubbing hands and snickering with glee as said Program Person comes up with random bottom-of-page announcements each week?
Perhaps they'll be, "Be kind to animals: kiss a frog," "Give thanks through breakdancing," or "Bare feet rule: if God wanted shoes on our feet we'd be born with them."
What's YOUR random announcement?"

Mysterious Tropical Fruit

We fished this out of the river in Hawaii. I know our hostess, Genna, had a name for it, but I don't remember what it was.
She said we could eat it.
So I tried.
But I wasn't sure what part to eat. I ate some seeds, which were rather sour, and then I tried to bite the side of the fruit. It was like trying to bite through the sole of my sandal.
Hmmm.
I think I'll stick with bananas.
Do you like tropical fruit?
What's your favorite?

Boot Sandals

While walking around the McCarron Airport in Las Vegas, we walked around while waiting for our shuttle and saw these...um...boots? Sandals?
lt's the first time I've seen anything like this.
Would you want to wear them?
