Mystery Books Like You've Never Seen Before!

Snow College Library was full of mystery last semester as they covered some of their books in brown paper, leaving only vague clues on the front as to the contents. 

I checked a couple of them out just to see what they were about. One was a book I'd read before, called, "Quiet." (The clue? "Shhh.") The other was a collection of Sherlock Holmes stories! Being a fan, I read those with delight. (Clue: a drawing of footprints and a magnifying glass on the brown paper!)
Are you the kind of person who would take a chance on a paper covered book? Or do you like to be certain of what you're getting?

Red (Read) Cat Bookstore!

Hey, it's been a month or two since my friend, Steve Clark, and I did a book signing at the Red "Read" Cat Bookstore in Kanab! (It closes for the winter, in case you want to know!)

Steve is a  personable author, and a good marketer, selling a bunch of books while I stood by the fire pit and held my hands over the flame. (The coat I'm wearing in the picture happens to be Steve's, too.)

I should take a lesson and be better prepared. You don't have to take the kitchen sink, but it's better to have a coat and not need it than need one and not have it.

Same with books.

If you haven't written a book in a year and you're a writer, it's time to tap one out.

Burnt Food Can Be Beautiful

When I burned food in the oven this time, (it's happened before) It was fun to see what happened to the light rays in my kitchen. The smoke in the air made them look like magic happening before my very eyes!

So look for the good, pretty, fun, interesting, educational, fortifying, character-building, or fascinating aspects of events that happen in your life. You might be struggling now, wondering why you burn the food so often, but when you look back, you could be surprised to discover that burnt food is easier to digest, so you get to live a longer, healthier life than those people who aren't patient enough to let their food burn before eating it.
