Miss Utah Danced With My Boy
Kayla Barclay, Miss Utah 2009, (see pix) danced with my son in Show Choir last year. The song was "Accidentally in Love," from the movie "Shrek." When the choir director told Zack he didn't look like he was in love, Kayla spoke up. "I can teach him!"
That's just what Utah needs, a representative who's not only talented, but helpful, too!
She really is a sweet girl. She said "Hi!" to me in the store the other day, just because she saw me. She knew I didn't get a vote in the Miss Utah thing, but that didn't matter. That's just the kind of girl she is.

Is she from your town? That's awesome.
She lives in Manti, just 7 miles away, and it's the same high school that Ephraim students go to. It's funny, all the local places with their small marquees have congratulations signs up! High times in Sanpete County!
Oh, yeah, a couple of other things: I heard her on the radio saying how she spent no more than $200 on her entire pageant wardrobe, and how her mom and a seamstress in my ward sewed sleeves in her dresses and then also put liners in where she thought the fabric was too see-through. This girl wore a one piece bathing suit, too, and said, "You just have to hope the judges can see that your abs are toned through the fabric."
